Outdoor apparel and equipment brand The North Face has celebrated the fortieth anniversary of its foundation by signing new agreements to offset all of its North American facilities’ energy use and t become a member of the bluesign standard.
“The outdoor industry is a perfect platform to introduce new participants to the joys of the outdoors and the importance of conservation,” said Letitia Webster, the company’s director of corporate sustainability. “To ensure future athletes, consumers, and conservationists, The North Face is committed to increasing participation in the outdoors through improving access and conservation.”
Membership of bluesign means the brand will work ever more closely with mills and fabric suppliers to evaluate and improve the chemical make-up of materials at the very beginning of the product development process.
