The most recent monthly figures suggest that Vietnam has overtaken India as the second-biggest exporter of apparel to the US.
China is out in front by a long way with a share of around 30% of the US market for clothing exports, estimated to be worth $73 billion annually.
But according to data from the US department of commerce, Vietnamese exports in the sector rose by more than 36% in May to $4.76 billion, outstripping India's $3.14 billion.
