The first two exporting units at a new textile business park in the Pakistani city of Faisalabad should be open for business within the next two months. Officials from the company behind the new Faisalabad Garment City (FGC) made the announcement at a media briefing on August 11.

Muhammad Iqbal, secretary of the new company, explained that the purpose of the project was to make it easier for textile and garment manufacturers (including overseas firms) to set up production facilities in Faisalabad.

He said the initiative would help the textile sector in the area add value to products made there and create new job opportunities, especially for young women.
