Smallest cotton harvest for 25 years
13/08/2008
US cotton producers will harvest a quarter less cotton this year compared to 2007. The Department of Agriculture has said this year’s harvest will be the smallest for more than two decades.
Forecasters have estimated that the cotton crop will be 13.8 million bales, down 28% from last year, and that producers would harvest an area just over 3 million hectares, the smallest area since 1983.
