Invista celebrates 35 years of Polarguard

The Polarguard brand of synthetic batting for insulation in outerwear is celebrating 35 years in the business. Polarguard was established in 1973 as a premium polyester fiberfill for outdoor products. Its filament fiberfill is well known for durability, loft and thermal efficiency in cold weather apparel.  Through the years the product line has included high void hollow fiberfill, fine denier, and super void fiberfill versions, as well as Polarguard Classic, the original product.

The product is manufactured by Invista, which recently completed a multi-million dollar investment in the continuous filament fibre operation, and has installed state-of-the-art equipment to convert the fibre into wadding.  “We are now fully integrated from polymer to fibre to batting,” said Paul Latten, vice president of Invista Textile Fibres on announcing the development.
