Shift away from textiles as Romania seeks to add value
15/08/2008
Recent trade data from Romania shows a move away from textiles. Commentators on the country’s economy have said a shift towards the production of goods with greater added value is well under way, with textiles, a key focus of foreign investment in Romania in the 1990s, suffering most as a result.
Exports of machinery and transport vehicles have enjoyed cumulated growth rates of around 30% in the past three years, while textile exports have been falling by between 2% and 4% per year.
