Unique record set in the Highlands

18/08/2008

Ultra-marathon runner Jez Bragg has smashed the latest in a series of records in winning a specialist race called The Devil o’ the Highlands. The runner, sponsored by The North Face, knocked 46 minutes off the existing record, finishing the unusual course in 5hrs 22mins.

The competition is one of three ultra races that take place in the Highlands of Scotland; the others are the West Highland Way and a race called The Highland Fling. At the age of 26, and having come into ultra running relatively recently, Jez Bragg now holds the records for all three.

He said afterwards: “I had a great race, especially with the exceedingly high quality of competitors. This year has been a personal triumph so far, but there is no time to rest on my laurels because I want to be at my best for The North Face Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc at the end of August.”
