Huntsman announces polyurethane price increases

19/08/2008

The polyurethanes division of Huntsman Corporation has announced that it will increase the price of three thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) products in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent by between 5% and 15 %.

These increases will take effect from October 1, or sooner if contract arrangements allow. It's a move that reflects what Huntsman has termed "the relentless rise in raw material and feedstock costs", which originate mainly from record-high crude oil prices, which in turn continue to impact the cost of raw materials such as benzene, adipic acid and intermediate polyesters.

It said that the increase would help it to ensure an unbroken supply of quality TPU products in this competitive and fast growing environment.

The three products affected are Irogran, Krytalgran and Krystalflex.
