Oerlikon news improves the mood

Amid a number of negative stories from the textile machinery sector, Swiss manufacturer Oerlikon has delivered better news following the ITMA Asia exhibition in Shanghai this summer.

After the event, the company’s chief executive, Dr Carsten Voigtländer, told Asian media that his company had enjoyed considerable success there, with new orders and letters of intent worth an estimated €28 million coming from meetings in Shanghai with Asian clients.

He said: “This shows that it is still possible to conclude transactions in the textile machinery sector, in spite of the difficult market situation in the first months of the year. At least on the first four of the five days, the visitors’ interest was very strong.”
