New York opening nears for Nike

The first Nike Sportswear store is almost ready for its grand opening on August 22 at 21 Mercer Street in New York City’s SoHo district.
The company said the store would offer exclusive access to premium products such as the Flywire Windrunner jacket, the Air Max 90 Flywire shoes and the specially developed 21 Mercer Nike LunaRacer shoes, one of a number of products that will only be available in the new store.
“We’re putting the best of our entire collection under one roof, in New York City, so consumers from all over the world can access it,” Dermott Cleary, vice president of Nike Sportswear, said in a news release.
The SoHo site will also be the first store to feature Nike Sportswear Bespoke, a by-appointment service in which consumers can work one-on-one with Nike designers to customise select footwear styles. The service will launch at the SoHo site later in the autumn featuring customisation of Nike’s Air Force 1 sneakers.
