Topics for All India Textile Conference revealed
The All China Textile Conference, organised by the Indian Textile Association, acts as a useful link for industry, policymakers, academia and textile professionals. The next edition will take place December 20-21 in Rajasthan.
The conference will look at the industry’s performance, as the textile sector appears to be somewhat cautious following growth in 2005. Neither its international or domestic growth has been in line with that of other sectors. It will examine policy, technology status, management acumen and skill, cost structure, desired contribution from academia and the choice of product-market mix.
It will also broach the topic of technical textiles, for which the education and skills requirements go beyond the classical textile domain. The conference will provide a platform to discuss and debate the desired path of growth for technical textiles.
Meanwhile, the garment sector, always seen as the major growth engine for the country’s textile industry, is passing through a development phase. More discussion and debate about competitiveness will take place at the conference.
