Revenues up 174% at Xtep
China-based athletic apparel firm Xtep has posted positive results for the first six months of 2008.
Revenues rose 174% to RMB 1.4 billion ($204 million) compared with the prior-year period. Gross profit for the period rose 214% to RMB 518 million.
Footwear revenues grew 86% to RMB 704 million compared with RMB 378 million in the prior-year period, while apparel revenues were up 414% to RMB 687 million compared with RMB 134 million.
The company has been working alongside chemicals company Dow Corning to create a new screen-printed sportswear line using silicone textile printing inks. These inks are solvent-free, can be washed and ironed, and are said to offer superior colour fastness to traditional inks.
