Incentives for relocating textile firms offered

The Turkish government will award a special package of incentives for textile manufacturers if they are prepared to relocate to priority areas.

The new incentives will be available from 2009 until 2014 and are designed to turn
Turkey
's less developed southeastern region into a centre for the textile sector.

At a press conference in
Ankara, ministers revealed plans for the textile, ready-to-wear and leather sectors, involving a list of 28 new measures. The government has also guaranteed benefits such as tax breaks, 50% loan aid and zero-interest credit for textile manufacturers that are willing to move from developed regions to developing areas.
