Integrated fibres and polymers business Invista has announced the winner of its International Design Contest as part of the launch of its Lycra 2.0 Garment Technology.

The winner, Brandon Grimm, from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, was selected ahead of finalists from De Montfort University, Leicester; Istituto Europeo di Design, Milan; and Hong Kong Polytechnic.

To enter the contest, students were asked to create garments using the company’s new patented technology.

Mr Grimm’s design won global recognition and will be the main focus of Invista’s introduction of the Lycra 2.0 Garment Technology to the industry as well as awarding him $3,500.

Lycra 2.0 tape, the first product under the new technology platform, is a patented polyurethaneurea (PUU) heat-activated elastic adhesive that offers stretch and recovery, comfort and fit.
