Italy-based stretch fabrics producer Jersey Lomellina, a Carvico Group firm, has revealed details of its environmental policies and the outcomes of it Green Vision commitments.

According to the company it has significantly reduced consumption levels while maintaining the same production volumes. Between 2002 and 2007, it reduced both its natural gas consumption per metre produced and its electrical power per metre produced by 14%. Its water consumption per metre produced fell 33%.

Meanwhile Jersey Lomellina has also improved its Wonder fabric, the applications for which include swimming, sailing, skiing, cycling and running. The fabric is said to be soft and comfortable, compact and opaque. It guarantees 50+ protection against UVA and UVB rays and its structure allows natural perspiration evaporation so that the fabric dries quickly and the wearer’s body temperature stays constant. The fabric colour card, comprising around 50 colours, has now been completely overhauled.
