Thailand signs Netherlands textile agreement

Taiwan’s ministry of economic affairs (MOEA) has unveiled an ambitious plan to grow the country’s textile production value by NT$100 billion ($3.1 billion) before 2015 compared with the current level of $90 billion.

The plan includes increasing the output value of textile products, promoting research in new local textile products through alliances and focusing on the fashion industry, according to Taiwan Technical Textile Association (TTRI).

The ministry also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Netherlands Trade and Investment Office in
Taiwan
which aims to enhance international cooperation and encourage foreign investment. Wang Ya-ger, director of the Industrial Development Bureau under the MOEA, and Memo Goedhart, director of the Netherlands Trade and Investment Office, signed the innovative cooperation agreement in the presence of Wang Yea-kang, chairman of TTRI.

The plan includes mutual cooperation in developing and marketing top high-tech fabrics; fostering technical advancement and market collaboration; and pushing forward future cooperation agreements between
