RMIT hosts sports technology forum

Science and engineering trends in the $600 billion global sports industry will be discussed on September 18 when a number of sports technology experts meet at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.

The ‘Global Trends in Sports Products Customisation Forum’ will be presented by SportzEdge, a research programme from the RMIT Platform Technologies Research Institute.

Programme leader, Professor Aleksandar Subic, said the forum would bring together expertise from across the globe on topics ranging from the functional design of running shoes to the customisation of sports surfaces.

Speakers at the forum will include: Philippe Freychat, research and development director, Décathlon, and Troy Flanagan, director of sports science, US Ski and Snowboard Association.
