DuPont has elected Ellen Kullman president and director of the company effective October 1 and chief executive officer effective January 1, 2009.

DuPont chairman and CEO, Chad Holliday, will serve as chairman of DuPont and as a member of the board until Ms Kullman’s succession as chairman.

Ms Kullman is the 19th executive to lead the company in DuPont’s 206-year history. Since June 2006, she has served as executive vice president and member of the chief executive’s office, with responsibility for four of its five business segments and its marketing & sales and environmental sustainability functions.
