Nike gets out of the water

Nike has decided to continue producing swim gear for college teams and for traditional retail customers, but is no longer planning to make significant investments into developing new swim ranges.

A statement released by the company says: "We will not invest in next-generation swim innovation, which is not in line with our stated category growth strategy."

The decision fits with plans announced some time ago suggesting that it would focus on six major categories—basketball, soccer, running, men’s and women’s training and sportswear.
