Lenzing launches new ProModal combi-fibre

26/09/2008

Austria-based Lenzing AG has launched a new combi-fibre, ProModal, which combines Lenzing Modal and Tencel. Modal is used to make textiles softer, while Tencel offers performance and strength as well as moisture absorption and skin sensitive properties.

ProModal offers both softness and high performance all in the same product using a special blending ratio and a Tencel fibre specially developed for the application. The yield of ProModal is approximately six times higher than that of cotton, while the water consumption is 10-20 times lower.

Business unit textiles manager, Friedrich Weninger, says: "For Lenzing, ProModal is an extremely important step since by further developing established products one can stimulate the market and offer innovative customers a competitive advantage over discounters.”
