New distribution hub for Rip Curl
ProLogis the world's largest owner, manager and developer of distribution facilities, announced on October 8 that it will build a new 12,700-square-metre industrial warehouse in south-west
The state-of-the-art facility will be developed on land recently acquired by ProLogis in the town of Saint Geours de Maremne, 150 kilometres south of Bordeaux and only 80 kilometres from the border with Spain. Rip Curl plans to use the facility to distribute its complete range of products to retailers throughout
In addition, the facility will help both companies improve their carbon footprint. It is set to have a 250 kilowatt solar array, a linked collection of photovoltaic modules, installed on the roof. The solar panels will generate an estimated 275,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) of renewable energy per year, and the plan is to sell unused energy to a local energy provider. Construction on the building is scheduled for the first half of 2009.
