Backpack upgrades from C.A.M.P
14/10/2008
After broadening its offer of backpacks for multi sports and trail activities, Italian manufacturer C.A.M.P. has announced that it is changing the shape of its products for 2009 after careful analysis of users’ needs.
The company has said that its X3 model will offer greater levels of comfort and breathability on the shoulder straps, waist belt and back. Four pads create a gap between the back of the wearer and the backpack for better ventilation. The waist belt is equipped with a double inverse adjustable system for a precise positioning of the backpack and of the closing buckle.
Lightweight and resistant, the X3 is developed with a ‘Back Door’ opening system which allows easy access to each level of the backpack without losing time. It is equipped with the ‘Xpress Evo’ ski carrying system for fast attachment and removal of skis, two side mesh pockets for sealskins, and pockets on the waist belt and shoulder strap. There are also systems to carry a variety of tools for the mountains (hydrobag, ice axe, probe, shovel, crampons, and so on). It weighs 990 grammes.
The X3 LIGHT is a lightweight version of the X3, thanks to the use of RS65 fabrics. The weight in this case is 790 grammes.
Lastly, the XLP 290 evolution is what C.A.M.P calls “the world’s lightest, most radical, competitive ski mountaineering pack”. The new XLP EVO features offers an upgrade in the shape of the exclusive ‘Express Evo’ ski carrying system and a new fast access bag for crampons. It is designed to accommodate two pairs of skis if necessary and is equipped with an isotherm sleeve for a drinking tube, attachment points for a hydration bladder and a detachable inner pocket. It weighs 285 gramme.
