In spite of ongoing turbulence on the stock exchanges of the world, the chief executive of the biggest in the world (by dollar value), the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), took time out in mid-October to attend a high-level gathering of Italian business leaders.

NYSE chief executive, Duncan Niederauer, attended the gathering at Villa Sandi, the Veneto home of the founder of the Geox casual and sports shoe brand, Mario Polegatti.

The focus of the discussion was what Italian business leaders can do to steer their companies through the current economic turbulence.
