Taiwanese support for Indian functional fabrics idea
17/10/2008
India’s Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has forged an alliance with Taiwan-based Pai Lung Machinery Mill to improve the availability of functional fabrics, with a special focus on anti-bacterial and stain-resistant functionality.
Pai Lung will support an AEPC knitwear technology mission for the transfer of skills on technical textiles, industrial fabrics, eco-friendly textiles and high-value man made textiles. The Taipei-based company will conduct workshops, make sample garments and offer support to Indian manufacturers in setting up knitting units for speciality garments.
The mission will have a research and development laboratory, a library, a fashion and design studio, a machine laboratory, and an extensive training centre. The building will be ready by June 2009.
