Vaude climbers excel at European Championships
Vaude climber Johanna Ernst became the youngest European climbing champion at the IFSC European Championships in Paris, held October 15-18. Meanwhile, Kilian Fischhuber took second place in his event.
After her sensational victory in Women's Lead at the Climbing World Cup, Ms Ernst, 15, is the youngest European champion in sport climbing. She was the only woman to top-out on all three competition routes, leaving her competitors far behind.
Shortly before, Kilian Fischhuber was able to land a spot on the podium in an exciting, nail-biting final. At the beginning of the finals, the 25-year-old Austrian living in Tyrol, needed too many attempts for a boulder problem, causing him to fall back to fifth place for a short time. But he fought back onto the podium to come in second, just behind French climber Jerome Meyer.
