Textile mills close

The National Textile Corporation (NTC) has decided to close its two textile units in Punjab and one in Rajasthan.
The move comes after the Industrial Board of Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) deemed twelve NTC mills to be unviable and approved their closure.NTC’s chairman and managing director, Mr K Ramachandram Pillai, has written to the department of labour about the closure, pointing out that those losing their jobs would be offered compensation.
