Invista files lawsuits

Integrated fibres firm Invista has filed a lawsuit against France-based specialty chemicals company Rhodia. Invista is suing Rhodia for alleged theft and misappropriation of its chemical process technology.

Invista originally filed a claim on August 15 alleging that Rhodia and DuPont have teamed up to misappropriate its adiponitrile (ADN) technology and also alleging that the firms are unlawfully using its trade secrets to expand in the nylon chemicals business.

On November 6, Invista amended the lawsuit to focus on DuPont's alleged misappropriation of intellectual property, unfair competition, and breach of contracts, and then filed the lawsuit in Delaware against Rhodia. The two suits seek damages and declaratory and injunctive relief to halt Rhodia's and DuPont's alleged misconduct.

Meanwhile, in a separate issue, DuPont sued Invista on November 11 alleging unauthorised use of trade secrets in the nylon engineering polymers business.
