New Jordan Melo M5 to launch
Jordan Brand, a division of Nike, has collaborated with basketball player Carmelo Anthony on the new Jordan Melo M5 shoe. It will be available from November 22.
Because Mr Anthony can play anywhere from point guard to centre, he needed a shoe that would be versatile enough to support this. Jordan claims the shoe is designed to perform in any role on the hardwood. Mr Anthony worked alongside Jordan Brand footwear design director, D'Wayne Edwards, on the shoe, the fifth they have worked on together.
The shoe weighs just 15 ounces and its natural flexibility ensures quick transitioning for shooting guards. A moulded heel counter and inner collar padding give better fit while heel and forefoot Zoom Air provide cushioning. Support and stability are derived from the shank plate and outsole.
Mr Anthony won a national championship as a freshman in college, earning a spot as a pro on the All-Star Team and helping lead the USA Basketball team to a gold medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics.
