Karhu previews new spring collection
Finnish brand Karhu unveiled a new line of athletic footwear for spring 2009 at The Running Event in Dallas on November 19.
Local sports retail chain Luke's Locker previewed the new shoes, which will be available on the wider market from March 1, 2009.
The new models are inspired by Finnish design and are engineered with the company's patented Fulcrum technology, which promotes the foot's natural abilities in three fluid movements through the phases of the gait cycle. This reduces wasteful vertical forces and promotes an efficient gait cycle. The shoes have a new M-TREAD outsole inspired by the original Karhu shoes of the 1980s.
New shoes in the company's Stability collection showcase a new asymmetrically engineered support Fulcrum midsole and midfoot plate integrated to guide the foot to a neutral position and provide torsional stability. This collection is led by the STRONG fulcrum_RIDE shoe, which has an advanced and lightweight carbon fibre plate and will retail in the US for $139.99. The STABLE fulcrum_RIDE is built for everyday use and delivers great stability with a Hytrel plate (a highly engineered plastic) and the new stability midsole fulcrum retailing for $119.99.
