Outlast develops new application process

US-based producer of temperature regulating technology Outlast has developed a new application process, Matrix Infusion Coating (MIC). It allows an advanced formulation of Outlast phase change materials (PCMs) to be finely printed onto flat fabrics including cotton and polyester. The MIC process is best suited for use in the active, casual, and sportswear markets, especially for products being worn directly on the skin.

The process is based on newly developed binding chemicals fixing patented Outlast microcapsules called Thermocules firmly with textile materials.

“We managed to apply our technology through a new process engineering, so it is not visible and doesn’t influence the material’s grip in a negative way,” says Martin Bentz, managing director of Outlast Europe GmbH. “We received lots of requests in the past, now we can finally serve new applications.”
