As part of a new restructuring plan, UK-based sports clothing, footwear and equipment company JJB Sports has appointed Sir David Jones executive chairman. Sir David replaces Roger Lane-Smith, who is to continue at the firm as deputy chairman. He was knighted in the New Year Honours list and is best known for his impact as former chief executive at clothing retailer Next. 

Chris Ronnie continue to serve as chief executive, but his role will now focus on the daily running of the business, while the company has appointed former Selfridges and Alpha Group chief executive Peter Williams as an executive director.
