Vaude to practice sustainability with the help of Vivalpin

Mountain sports equipment specialist Vaude is teaming up with Vivalpin to advocate sustainability in mountain sports.

Vivalpin is based in Garmish-Partenkirchen, in southern Bavaria, and is the largest private mountain and ski school in Germany, with approximately 2,500 participants a year. As the first climate neutral mountain school in the Alps region, it has been conducting carbon neutral events, courses and organising mountain tours for some time. For every event or activity it conducts, arbon dioxide emissions are calculated and then compensated for by investing in CO2 certificates.

Vivalpin mountain guides and skiing instructors will now use professional apparel, alpine hardware and backpacks made by Vaude and Edelrid. The two brands will also feature heavily in the Vivalpin catalogue and in its mountaineering reference books.

Antje von Dewitz, managing director at Vaude, said: “As an outdoor goods supplier, we have always perceived our ecological responsibility to be a cyclical process: sustainable production is as important to us as is the responsible use of our products out in nature.”
