According to organisers, more than 300 international and local companies are expected to participate at Megatech Pakistan. Many of these will travel from Italy, Turkey, China, Germany and Taiwan. The show will be held at the Karachi Expo Centre from March 3-6.

The second Technical Textiles Conference will take place alongside the expo from March 4-5. It will focus on technical textiles and nonwovns.

Pakistan’s textile industry is a major contributor to its national economy in terms of exports, manufacturing levels and employment generation. It is the world’s fourth largest cotton producer and the third largest cotton consumer. Between July 2007 and June 2008, textile exports totalled $10.6 billion, accounting for 55% of total exports.
