Unifi’s new fibre to appear at OR

21/01/2009

Polyester and nylon textured yarn producer Unifi, Inc. has expanded its product offering with the launch of its Repreve polyester staple fibre, which will appear at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, being held January 22-25. Repreve polyester staple fibre is made from 100% recycled materials for use in spun yarns, including open-end, ring and jet spun.

The new product is designed to be used as a “drop-in” replacement for fabrics and products currently made with virgin polyester staple fibres or other eco-friendly products.

Executive vice president, Roger Berrier, said: “In 2008, estimated global polyester staple fibre consumption was approximately 20 billion pounds. Based on this global consumption opportunity, Unifi accelerated the introduction of this new environmentally-friendly fibre as part of the company’s mission to provide the industry with sustainable textile solutions.”
