Cocona files infringement lawsuit
Colorado-based Cocona Technology, Inc. has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Taiwan-based Hoyu Textile Company. The lawsuit contends that Hoyu is trading on the goodwill of the Cocona brand by using Cocol, a brand name that is confusingly similar.
Cocona is concerned that its technology is untested, uncertified and will not perform up to expectations, resulting in disappointment by end users and market confusion.
Cocona fabrics and yarns use natural technology that embeds activated carbon derived from recycled coconut shells permanently into fabrics. The company has been issued several patents and has registered its Cocona trademark in many countries, including Taiwan where the lawsuit was filed.
