While many textile firms have outsourced production to Asian countries where production costs are lower, Italian fabric producer Aquafil decided to expand its production capacity in Slovenia. According to the company, its €25 million investment at a new site in Ljubljana has already started to bear fruit.

The investment plan has helped to expand the production capacity of textile yarn (POY & FDY) of Polyamide 6 & 66, adding approximately 9,000 tons a year of capacity to the existing 16,000 tonnes.

According to Aquafil, the Ljubljana facility is one of the largest and most efficient for producing nylon yarn for textile applications.
