Polymer and fibre manufacturer Invista is reported to have decided to close its production site in Offenbach, near Frankfurt, with the potential loss of around 280 jobs.
The German facility has the capacity to produce 150,000 tonnes of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) and year and 210,000 tonnes of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resins. It also has the capacity to produce amorphous polyester, and polyester for PET.
Some of the activity of the Offenbach business will move to Invista’s Gersthofen facility, near Augsburg, the company said.
