Première Vision organisers pleased, despite lower numbers
20/02/2009
The organisers of the six events making up Première Vision Pluriel (Expofil, Première Vision, Le Cuir à Paris, Indigo,
ModAmont, Zoom by Fatex) have acknowledged that attendance fell at the most recent session, from 10 to 13 February, but have insisted that the shows were a success, in the light of the current situation in the global economy.
They also said that the 1,479 exhibitors were, on the whole, pleased to have met with major buyers from all corners of
the globe, and expressed satisfaction with contacts made and orders written during the four days.
In all, 38,945 fashion textile professionals, including 27,834 international visitors, came to discover weavers’ and spinners’ latest developments for spring-summer 2010, as well as early yarn directions for autumn-winter 2010-2011.
This meant the number of visitors was down 18% compared to the February 2008 session (and 9% compared with September 2008).
The organisers have claime that the number of visitors coming from major markets held at a level that is "unmatched by other textile shows". North America registered 1,410 visits, Japan 1,292 and South Korea 426. For Europe, apart from France, the United Kingdom topped the list of visiting countries, followed by Germany, Italy and Spain.
At Première Vision itself, 682 exhibitors attended, representing 28 countries (a decline of 2.8% over the year-ago
figure, which the organisers said was "proof that fabric companies continue to favour Première Vision").
