China includes textiles in stimulus plans

20/02/2009

China's State Council has approved a series of plans to support eight industries, including the textile sector, with a view to revitalising industrial growth.

The stimulus plans follow tax cuts and subsidies to help manufacturers this year. The government says it wants to enhance competitiveness and spur improved quality in the industrial arena in China.

The plans encourage enterprises to restructure and merge within sectors to make it easier for them to invest in new technology, explore new markets, expand exports and spur domestic demand.
