Two new harnesses from CAMP
20/02/2009
Italian outdoor and mountain sports equipment brand CAMP has brought to market two new climbing harnesses. The new products, the CAMP Air and the CAMP Air CR, both contain the four systems the company has patented for this type of equipment to enhance safety, comfort and performance.
The Sicura system offers auto-locking buckles that can be undone quickly for removal or adjustment. No Twist consists of a small loop integrated into the belay loop, holding the belay karabiner securely in place to eliminate the potential for dangerous cross-loading. The third patented system available in the new harnesses is Auto Fit, a leg-loop system that remains slack while climbing or belaying, but cinches automatically when loaded to ensure comfort and safety. Finally, there is Flat Link, which makes sure the elastic that connects the waist-belt to the leg-loops is flush to the belt and secured without buckles to reduce snagging.
The company is targetting the CAMP Air at top-level competitive climbers. It's lightweight, and has closed-cell perforated filling and interior polyester mesh to give quick-dry capability.
Meanwhile, it believes the CAMP Air CR harness will work particularly well for high-level mountaineering, ice-climbing and intense periods of climbing.
