Advansa launches new insulation range

Polyester yarn manufacturer Advansa has brought to market two new ranges of high-end technical insulation products for sleeping bags and apparel.

A worldwide distribution network is in place for the new product range, which will be commercialised under the company's ThermoCool (for apparel) and ThermoDry (for sleeping bags) brand names.

Both products have been designed to provide not just maximum warmth, but also a microclimate that reduces the adverse effects of perspiration and condensation, while enhancing comfort.

At the time of the launch, Silvia Toledo, ready-to-wear segment manager, commented: “Advansa has extensive experience in developing and manufacturing technical fibres both for high-end performance insulation products and also fibres specifically designed to deal with moisture management and comfort in apparel. Combining the two technologies we developed a new insulation concept for apparel and sleeping bags. The special engineered fibres allow the products to offer more than just warmth; in addition they help to deal with the adverse consequences of perspiration, condensation and humidity inside a garment.”

These fibre technologies have been incorporated into waddings as a result of almost two years' research and development work that Advansa has carried out in cooperation with Hong Kong Nonwoven Fabric Ind. Co. Ltd., a prominent player in the global insulations market.

Apparel marketing manager, Jordi López, told sportstextiles.com: "This is the first time we have combined our know-how from moisture management to create a specific mix of fibres inside a product to provide heat and prevent condensation. The whole system is designed with fibres—the shapes and the capillaries we have engineered in mean condensation will not stay."

He said there had been lots of early interest in the new product range.
