02/03/2009

Colombiatex de las Americas 2009 attracted 8,965 visitors according to Carlos Eduardo Botero Hoyos, executive director of Inexmoda, which organises the event. This is a 7% increase over last year’s show. Colombiatex ran January 27-29 in Medellín, Colombia.

Dr Hoyos added that 410 exhibitors and 323 journalists also attended the three-day show. According to the organisers, attendance levels offered “a great sensation of optimism and satisfaction”.

The show got off to a good start when, at the official inauguration, the President of Colombia, Álvaro Uribe,  announced that tax on raw materials such as cotton and spandex would be abolished in order to promote better competitiveness. He also said the government was looking at ways to strengthening bilateral trades with Ecuador.
