Invista to produce Lycra Xtra Life in Brazil
Fibres, fabrics and trimmings producer Invista is to start producing Lycra Xtra Life thread in Brazil. The thread gives fabrics extra durability and protects garments from chlorine to prevent fading.
Having started operations in January, the Invista factory located in Paulínia, in the state of São Paulo, is the second factory in the world to produce the Lycra Xtra Life thread. The technology, launched four years ago, was imported from the US.
“Brazil has been chosen for this production due to the large number of beachwear produced in the local market,” explains Carolina Sister, marketing director for Lycra threads in Latin America. “In 2009, we expect to increase sales of this product, which already replaces a percentage of Lycra thread used in beachwear fashion market, and increases elasticity of items geared to aquatic sports by 2-3%.”
