Textile machinery sales down
09/03/2009
Italy’s textile machinery producers registered a drop of 18% in production in 2008 compared to the previous year. Their combined output for last year had an estimated value of €2.3 billion. Exports of textile machinery contributed around €1.8 billion to this total.
Paolo Banfi, president of the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT), said on announcing the figures: “A recent study conducted by ACIMIT shows that the most critical issues facing its members relate to the current credit crunch, with an increase in the spread requested by banks on credit to businesses, and a demand for greater guarantees in providing credit lines.”
