Eschler incorporates Korteks technology

Swiss knitwear manufacturer Eschler has presented a new collection of technical fabrics for summer 2010, comprising products for all three layers.

The company has introduced four new e1 qualities with Dry Touch yarns, six innovative e1 Flash fabrics (bi-component knitwear using polyester on the inside and polyamide on the outside) and six new functional fabrics made from 100% recycled polyester.

Dry Touch is a Polyester fibre with a channelled structure made by Turkish yarn producer Korteks. The five-channel cross-section filaments increase surface area, offering better moisture management and comfort.

Product manager, Markus Lutz, said: “We are very excited about the product! At the beginning, we were rather sceptical about Korteks’ Dry Touch yarn specifications regarding drying time, absorbency and moisture transportation. Yet, after we had produced the first fabrics, we tested them at the independent research institute EMPA in
St.Gallen, Switzerland
. The results have confirmed all of Korteks’ specifications!“

The four new Eschler e1 qualities also offer a high UV protection (up to UPF 50+) and have a soft touch. The Swiss brand has used the Dry Touch yarn with silver ions, which inhibit the growth of odour-causing bacteria. According to the company, e1 Dry Touch is perfect or functional underwear, technical shirts and performance garments, particularly cycling, running and triathlon.

Meanwhile, e1 Flash comprises six technical fabrics that “dry in a flash”. The fabrics use polyester on the inside and polyamide on the outside, with elastane for more elasticity. Because of their bi-component construction, Flash fabrics offer good moisture management and excellent cooling properties. The Polyamide outer material also provides high abrasion resistance.
