Investment and research toward what sustainability really is, lead Cifra to a new concept in sportswear that combines tailor-made design, function and respect for the environment.

The Italian company presents the first collection of sports and athleisure garments made through the use of SENSIL® Nylon 6.6 obtained from the biogas of organic waste combined with an elastomer derived from corn.

SENSIL® ByNature, produced by the global Nylon 6.6 leader NILIT, is a next-generation Nylon yarn that uses Biomass Balance (BMB) technology by replacing fossil raw materials with renewable ones. Derived from biogas produced from organic waste, this yarn is a first for the fashion and sportswear industry. Compared to conventional Nylon in this new approach renewable resources are used as raw material at the very early stages of the production process, reducing 1400 kg of CO2 equivalent per ton of conventional Nylon 66. Every step of the process is monitored and the entire system is ISCCplus certified.

In this new collection, a first in the fashion and sportswear sectors, Cifra combines SENSIL® ByNature, with an elastomer (spandex) derived from corn, produced by Hyosung, to ensure a hollistic product approach to reduce environmental impact, If we combine this with innovative design, functional technology in favor of optimal comfort and a sustainable and certified value chain, we arrive at precisely an organic project that embraces the entire supply chain and moves even the most innovative standards of responsible textiles higher.

"Elevating our ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) set-up is the central goal of our business philosophy," emphasizes Cesare Citterio, CEO of Cifra Spa, "because, beyond the liturgy of marketing, we want to make our contribution to a cultural change, in defense of the environment and protection of the well-being of our employees. Research plays a key role for us combined with an attitude to sustainability that we have always had. This new project is part of a broader strategy designed for all those customers who intend to take environmental responsibility seriously."

Cifra's “bio" collection is designed for both sportswear, including extreme sportswear, as well as outdoor and athleisure.
