CORDURA re/cor™ recycled fabrics land their biggest adventure – a pack collection built for adventure travel.
It’s no secret CORDURA® Advanced Fabrics and CamelBak® are longstanding collaborators driving innovation and pioneering countless products spanning military and outdoor industries. When the CORDURA® brand launched its latest CORDURA re/cor™ Recycled Nylon 6,6, (RN66) collection, our design team at CamelBak knew there was a huge opportunity there. We were one of the first brands to ideate and implement a collection around it – and this time, for a new category: adventure-travel. The result? Meet the CamelBak Adventure Travel Pack (A.T.P.™) – our most sustainable backpack collection yet.

Rooted in sustainability, empowered by durability.

At CamelBak, we are always asking ourselves – ‘how can we make more sustainable products?’ Selecting CORDURA re/cor™ Recycled Nylon 6,6, (RN66) and Recycled Nylon 6 (RN6) fabrics for the pack construction was a conduit for us to ask ourselves what all could be accomplished with this pack from a sustainability perspective. Inspired by the selection of CORDURA re/cor™ RN66 fabrics for A.T.P.™, sustainability became the backbone of our charter for this new adventure-travel collection. The use of CORDURA re/cor™ RN66 fabrics make the Adventure Travel Pack collection more sustainable than anything CamelBak has ever made before.

Every detail was carefully considered to decrease its impact on the environment without sacrificing an ounce of durability. The packs feature a combination of CORDURA re/cor™ Recycled Nylon 6,6, (RN66) and Recycled Nylon 6 (RN6), which is 100% post-industrial recycled fiber material that is Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified. The pack body and bottom are both 100% post-industrial recycled 210 denier CORDURA re/cor™ Recycled Nylon 6,6, (RN66) fabric. The pack liner is 100% post-industrial recycled 210 denier CORDURA re/cor™ Nylon 6 fabric.

In addition to selecting CORDURA® Advanced Fabrics, our design team went all-in on sustainability, sourcing other sustainable materials like aluminum hardware, recycled buckles and even its packaging and hangtags are made of recycled materials. In fact, the undyed A.T.P.™ in both 20- and 26-liter variations are the first products ever to meet CamelBak’s Platinum Badge on our sustainability rating system. The undyed colorway uses less water, power, and emits fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional nylon manufacturing processes*. The dyed version (also 20- and 26-liter) isn’t far behind, receiving CamelBak’s Gold Badge signifying it’s manufactured with recycled materials and safer chemicals, designed to preserve resources, and diminish disposables.

CORDURA® fabric is incredibly important in the adventure-travel space. Not only does this consumer know CORDURA® fabric, but they also expect it. With our long history of using CORDURA® Advanced Fabrics, coupled with consumer demand… it was a no-brainer to use CORDURA® fabric for CamelBak’s foray into the adventure-travel category.

Designed for wherever the day takes you.

Just under three years in the making, CamelBak’s A.T.P.™ collection featuring both CORDURA re/cor™ RN6 and RN66 fabrics is loaded with technical features and thoughtful details. A.T.P.™ is the first thing you will reach for when you don’t know where the day will take you. The packs are not only inherently durable thanks to the use of CORDURA® Advanced Fabrics, but they are also thoughtfully designed with versatile features that can keep up with the way we travel. They come pre-loaded with technical details like a removable padded laptop sleeve, a rolling luggage handle pass-through, a side entry zipper pocket for organizing small essentials, an expandable water bottle pocket and deployable compression straps, all of which add up to streamlining travel via plane, train and beyond.

We made the A.T.P.™ collection for the optimists. Not the usual ‘glass half full’ types, but the ones who drink straight from the carton. We have seen such a shift pre-to-post pandemic on how people travel. Your gear must ‘mode-switch’ with you, and the A.T.P.™ is a champ at that. For example, with its versatile design, you can easily swap out the use of the laptop sleeve for the use of a reservoir instead.

Beyond the A.T.P.™ collection’s thoughtfully intricate features built for adventure-travel enthusiasts, there’s a deep and impactfully executed commitment to responsibly sourcing materials.

“Urging the industry to 'Expect More, Waste Less', our award-winning CORDURA re/cor™ RN66 fabric collection challenges the throw-away mentality within the textile industry, making it easier for consumers to understand how one ingredient and quality craftmanship can allow them to get the most from their gear and apparel,” said Cindy McNaull, CORDURA® Brand Business Development Director. “Our authorized mill partner Dong Jin International was instrumental in helping bring this fiber innovation to life, supporting its development efforts for more than two years.”

CORDURA re/cor™ RN66 fabrics offer a responsible solution, while also meeting strict brand standards for abrasion resistance and tear strength. Any product that is a part of the CORDURA® Advanced Fabrics platform undergoes extensive testing, and CORDURA re/cor™ RN66 is no exception. At CamelBak, we also performed our own durability testing of the A.T.P.™ packs, including extended wear testing, sun exposure and durability testing – all of which received outstanding marks.

To explore more opportunities to design with CORDURA re/cor™ RN66 fabrics, designers have direct access to the CORDURA® Advanced Fabrics portfolio with the CORDURA® Fabric Finder – a digital fabric library that allows brands to navigate a user-friendly digital interface to view an assortment of more than 800 fabrics.
