A new 50-fabric CORDURA Adventurer™ collection will make its European debut at  Performance Days in Munich this October, bringing together a curated selection of performance materials for applications ranging from lightweight wind layers and accessories to soft shells, hard shells and down-filled garments.

Developed with Atextile, the first official mill partner for CORDURA Adventurer™, the expanded collection has been created to help outdoor designers and product developers navigate material selection according to specific end-use requirements.

The fabrics will be presented across seven application areas – Wind, Accessories, Tops, Bottoms, Down-Filled, Hard Shells and Soft Shells – with Atextile showcasing the collection at Performance Days in Munich on October 13–14.

Seven Atextile fabrics from the collection have also been selected for the PERFORMANCE DAYS Trend Forum, giving designers and sourcing teams an additional opportunity to discover the materials through the show’s curated sourcing platform.

The collection includes recycled nylon developments alongside a range of advanced constructions designed to address durability, protection and comfort across outdoor apparel.

From material technology to application

Among the developments are lightweight down-proof fabrics engineered using tight-weave constructions and sheer coatings. These are designed to minimise down leakage and consequent loss of fill while maintaining the lightweight characteristics required for insulated outdoor garments.

Atextile has also developed a new waterproof laminate system for the collection. According to the partners, the construction has been designed to deliver enhanced durability and breathability while addressing some of the longer-term wear and performance issues associated with conventional laminated constructions.

The breadth of the 50-fabric collection reflects an important part of the thinking behind CORDURA Adventurer™: providing designers with a more clearly defined route through the increasingly complex performance fabric landscape.

Rather than approaching material selection simply by fibre or construction, organising the collection around finished applications allows development teams to begin with the performance requirements of the product they are creating.

Building a mill partnership

Atextile was announced as the first official CORDURA Adventurer™ mill partner during Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics in August.

The Xiamen-based textile manufacturer specialises in performance woven and laminated fabrics for outdoor, sports and workwear markets, with capabilities spanning lamination, coating and functional finishing.

The partnership combines Atextile's manufacturing and technical development capabilities with the material expertise, global network and ingredient-brand platform of CORDURA® Advanced Fabrics.

“This partnership is about working together to solve real market needs,” says Ryan Castanet, director of business development at CORDURA® Advanced Fabrics.

“By collaborating closely with mill partners like Atextile, we can deliver meaningful innovation faster, pairing material performance with a trusted brand platform that helps designers and brands move forward with confidence.”

For Atextile, the collaboration also provides a platform through which it can expand its presence within the international outdoor market.

“As a strategic partner, CORDURA® brand's empowerment and implementation of products will help us gain a stronger market share, and CORDURA® brand will also bring added endorsement to many brands,” says Figo Wu, CEO of Atextile.

Taking the story through to the finished product

The programme extends beyond the fabric itself. Brands selecting qualifying fabrics from the CORDURA Adventurer™ collection will also have access to CORDURA Adventurer™ hangtags and sew-in labels, allowing the material technology and ingredient-brand story to remain visible through to the finished garment.

For designers and product developers, the combination of a curated fabric collection, defined application categories and on-product branding is intended to create a more connected route from initial material selection through to the consumer-facing product.

The Performance Days presentation will give European designers, developers and sourcing teams their first opportunity to explore the expanded collection and examine the individual fabric constructions firsthand.

Atextile will showcase the 50-fabric CORDURA Adventurer™ collection at booth U14 at Performance Days, Munich, October 13–14.

The collection will subsequently be presented by CORDURA® at booth 644 at Functional Fabric Fair, Portland, Oregon, October 27–28.
