Welcome to the July/August issue of WSA, which leads with important articles on recent technological developments in clothing recycling. We look at this important subject from the perspective of using advanced chemical recycling to offer, potentially, infinite regeneration of polyester fibres. A second article focuses on technology for separating different fibres from blended fabrics, which remains a major challenge as we seek to reduce waste in the textiles and apparel supply chain. Separately, we consider the contribution sports and outdoor brands, and their suppliers, are making to help meet the demand for masks and other protective equipment. We look briefly at some of the innovations we can hope to see at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and examine a claim from ASICS that the world fell in love with running during lockdown.
