ZDHC unveils electronic version of MRSL

The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) group has announced the release of an electronic version of its Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL).

The first version of the ZDHC MRSL was released in 2014, before being updated in 2015 to include leather. The e-MRSL is now available in electronic format, rather than as a static PDF document.

The ZDHC e-MRSL will allow users to easily search for chemical substances, either by name or by CAS number. In the future, it will also be possible to filter for different criteria and to translate the tool into multiple languages.

“With this new format, it is a lot easier for all parts of the value chain to search for substances that should not intentionally be used in the manufacturing process.” says Scott Echols, ZDHC programme director. “This tool will help us tremendously to support the implementation in facilities and will make it really easy to update the ZDHC MRSL in the future.”

ZDHC has revealed that it plans to update the e-MRSL on an annual basis. Version 2.0 of the list is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2019.

The ZDHC e-MRSL can be accessed here.
